The Web portal ‘Digital Information System on the International Brigades and the Brigades of the Spanish Civil War, SIDBRINT, it is included within the project ‘Historical Memory and the International Brigades: the Design of a Digital System for the Transfer of Spanish Heritage Knowledge’. The aim of this Web portal is to create the first Digital system that guarantees the visibility of the brigadists as a historical subject in the framework of the historical memory and contextualized in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). As the Digital system is intended for users who have a special interest in the aforementioned history, the integration of Folksonomies within the Thesaurus is proposed as a way of retrieving and improving the content included in same. This way, users will be able to choose between two systems: the Thesaurus (controlled vocabulary) and Folksonomies (social tagging), making one system not to be independent from the other.
